Refurb for Homeless Charity Wintercomfort

A collaboration between Houston Cox and other contractors in Mace’s supply chain in aid of Wintercomfort for the Homeless resulted in a complete transformation of the shower facilities for service users to enjoy. 

Houston Cox gave time and expertise free of charge to help create two new wet rooms for rough sleepers accessing services at Cambridge homeless charity Wintercomfort. The team also supplied and installed three sets of swimming pool specification Acrovyn doors as part of their contribution to the project.

"We are so grateful to all the volunteers who came to our rescue," said Melody Brooker, Fundraising and Communications Manager at Wintercomfort. "We’re open every single day providing vital services for homeless people in the city. The provision of showers for rough sleepers is an important part of our service, helping them to restore a sense of self-worth. The new facilities have been met with great approval by everyone at the centre."

Together with members of Mace and its trade partners, Houston Cox stripped out and replaced the charity’s worn and damp-damaged facilities, including doors, frames and wall panelling, and renovated the basement area. The shower rooms, which have been returned to full service, are back in regular use by around 35 service users daily.
