UpgradeThe Morrisroe Group is proud to have raised a record amount of money for CRASH in 2022, our seventh and final year as patron of the charity.
CRASH has been the UK construction industry’s social impact partner for 25 years, helping homelessness charities and hospices with vital construction projects. The Morrisroe Group has been a corporate patron of CRASH since 2015, supporting over 30 building projects in that time though our patron donation, fundraising and by providing pro bono preconstruction expertise, labour and materials. Find out more about the latest CRASH projects here.
In May, we entered a team of cyclists into RideLondon-Essex in aid of CRASH. The 100 mile cycle challenge began on the Victoria Embankment and finished at Tower Bridge, with a 65-mile loop through some of the most beautiful parts of the Essex countryside and villages in between.
The Morrisroe RideLondon-Essex team included Dan Bannister (AJM), James Wibberley (AJM), Mike Cantillon (Cantillon), Neil Abbott (GSS), Paul Moody (Cantillon), Pat Carberry (Cantillon) and Will James (Cantillon).
A HUGE congratulations and well done for riding 100 miles in support of CRASH charity. Your donations will enable CRASH to continue our work creating places that care for people when they’re most in need. Our latest completed project increased capacity at a homelessness charity, meaning that an additional five formerly homeless people have been given a place to call home and a chance to rebuild their lives. You can check out the difference you make here.
The team smashed their fundraising target of £7,000 to bring in an impressive total of £8,580. This represented over 50% of the total £15,000 raised by all teams taking part in RideLondon-Essex for CRASH.
This fantastic effort also resulted in a Top Fundraiser Award from JustGiving, who recognised the Morrisroe Group among the top 1% of fundraisers on the platform.
Seven members of staff from A J Morrisroe, GSS and Cantillon completed The Big March 2022 Challenge, raising an additional £700 for CRASH charity in the process. The Morrisroe Group pledged to donate £100 to CRASH for every individual who achieved the Big March 2022 target of 310k steps in the month of March.
Well done to everyone who took part in both challenges, helping to raise a record total of £9,280 for CRASH in 2022.
As well as raising a record amount for CRASH in 2022, we provided donations, professional expertise and products totalling just over £50,000 in 2021.
Plus, in 2018, Morrisroe was awarded the CRASH Above & Beyond Award for the patron company that has provided the greatest value of professional expertise. This award is a testament to the skill and dedication of those who volunteered their time and expertise for CRASH projects throughout the years.
Social value wasn't the only result. Staff who volunteered for CRASH projects found it a personally rewarding experience, too. “We had expertise in that field and it was nice to be able to use our skill set to benefit others. The Rennie Grove job was probably amongst the best six weeks ever spent at Morrisroe," commented Groundworks Construction Manager Seamus Gaughan.
It was a privilege to serve as CRASH patron for the last seven years. Thank you to all the volunteers and fundraisers for donating your time, skills and support.
