Costain’s upgrades to London Bridge involved a spacious and accessible new station concourse that cleverly reduces echoes and provides extended platforms to deliver a greater service to passengers.
Our works consisted of bespoke oak glazed screens and doors, installed into existing railway arches at London Bridge with the spaces under the arches being used as both commercial and retail areas.

All of the screens were templated and digitally surveyed to overcome the vast differences in the brickwork in each opening. Each glass was individually glazed onsite once the frames were installed due to the weight of the complete units. Each door was also fitted with powered access and pedestrian barriers to allow push button entry into each area.
Pressure Testing

Due to the location and client requirements, the final finished units were subject to high pressure water testing usually reserved for external wall cladding without openings. After a handful of design and installation changes to overcome the issues this could cause, all of our screens passed this intrusive test.
