Winner of the RIBA Stirling Prize 2022, The New Library at Magdalene College gives Cambridge University students access to an impressive archive and art gallery. Sizable wooden doors open up to reveal a light-filled, sustainable timber interior full of interconnecting rooms and smaller alcoves.
Chimneys help ventilate the space with roof lanterns providing further illumination. The brickwork façade was designed to coordinate with the nearby Pepys Library, which is Grade I listed, and uses the same tapestry-like look.
For this landmark project, our joinery subsidiary manufactured all of the external doors and windows, which were crafted from large section European Oak.
