The redevelopment of the Olympia exhibition site incorporates the existing Grade II listed structures while constructing seven new buildings and a live music venue.
Our specialist restricted access piling services involved secant retaining walls and bearing piles at locations within the existing basement structures with difficult access and limited headroom. These works were carried out during several visits between spring 2020 and the end of 2021 with a value of more than £1.5 million.
Pile diameters ranging from 300 to 600 mm were constructed by the cased rotary and segmental flight auger (SFA) methods, using concrete and grout mixes respectively. We deployed our Super Kitten, Klemm 702 and Klemm 709 piling rigs to install the piles to depths in excess of 28 m, within a headroom limit of between 4.4 and 5.4 m. Due to the nature of the site, piling rigs often had to be craned into position.

Our client delivered brilliant feedback, saying: “From the first piles in the West Hall secant wall back in April 2020 and all the visits across the project since, your team have been a pleasure to work with and made some incredibly challenging work look effortless.”
