Kingscote Design Wins PTA Award

Construct Day brings together members from the concrete structures industry to celebrate their successes. This year, Construct partnered with the Post Tensioning Association (PTA) to host the PTA Best Project Award.

We are delighted to announce that Kingscote Design Limited won this award for the post-tensioned (PT) slabs at Blossom Street (also known as Norton Folgate). Presented by comedian and actor Kerry Godliman, the awards also saw the team highly commended for their PT transfer slab on the Marylebone Square project.

A complex redevelopment of 19th century warehouse buildings, the Blossom Street project aimed to retain the area’s esteemed heritage and character while seamlessly integrating new structural frames. A number of architects had a hand in the project, resulting in a diverse look and feel.

Kingscote Design took on the responsibility of transforming two buildings’ reinforced concrete to PT slabs; work which relied on value engineering principles to reduce concrete material requirements, cut costs and limit embodied carbon emissions.

Another Morrisroe Group company, A J Morrisroe & Sons, was shortlisted three times for other CONSTRUCT Awards at this year's ceremony, receiving a nomination for Project of the Year (over £2.5 million) for Blossom Street and a nomination in the Health & Safety category for its work with mental health. One of our Health & Safety Advisors Ryan Crane was also nominated for the Young Achiever Award. Well done to all!
