2019 Canoeing Trip

The hot summer of 2019 heralded two days of fun and bonding for 50 intrepid Morrisroe adventurers as we decamped to the picturesque countryside around Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire.

A packed schedule of canoeing, music round the campfire, cooking, eating and other activities enabled staff from every part of the organisation to reconnect in a relaxed atmosphere, sleeping in tipis and sampling the delights of the local artisan butchers, bakers, dairy farmers and cider makers.

The local hostelries didn’t miss out either, as they provided welcoming pit stops for the exhausted canoeists at various points along the River Wye. It was an "incredible experience that boosted our company happiness results," commented CEO Brian Morrisroe.

Memorable Moments

Chaitra Das, an Associate Structural Engineer, declared the whole trip a huge success. “Even though the canoeing was hard at times, the beauty of the nature and the spirit of the team more than made up for it!” she said.

Teresa Hopkins, who works in our accounts team, added that “it was such an inclusive couple of days, and I feel so much more a part of the company as a result of spending time with people in various roles and levels. It really was a memorable time and it was all the better for sharing it with others.”

Site Manager George Sotropa recalled: “It was a good opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds, working for the company in different roles either on sites or HQ, outside working hours, creating a bond and enjoying a couple of days doing various activities and living in the ‘wild’.”
