Superstructures

Our in-house structural design engineers can support clients to develop the design intent and understand structural feasibility. They can undertake the full structural design and detailing of precast columns, stair flights, landing slabs, beams and core capping slabs.  Various design strategies can be adopted following discussion with the Project Structural Engineer.

A variety of precast column connections can be designed, ranging from the traditional grouted duct connection to coupler connections.  The adoption of grouted coupler connections by Morrisroe for the precast columns on the MP4 H05 phase of the Lendlease development at Elephant Park was one of the first project-wide uses of this innovative coupler in the UK. Stair landing slabs can be designed with hidden connectors to core walls. Core capping slabs can either be fully precast or a precast/insitu hybrid solution.

Precast concrete elements can either be manufactured at our precast production facility in Ampthill, on site or by our precast supply chain.  Precast column production capacity at our precast construction facility can be up to 100 precast columns per week depending on column cross section shape and size.  Precast columns can be manufactured in advance and stored ready for delivery to project sites or manufactured to a just-in-time production approach.  Lead-in times for design and fabrication can be discussed on a project-specific basis to suit the particular requirements of each project.

Our experienced project teams possess in-depth knowledge and hands on experience in the on-site installation of precast elements. We prioritise precision and efficiency using our surveying equipment and coordination techniques to ensure accurate positioning and swift installation. We are dedicated to installing precast elements to the highest standards of safety and quality utilising our robust QA/QC procedures and processes.

We can incorporate twin wall into the construction methodology in relation to the cores and walls. Structural slab hybrid solutions can be designed and installed adopting various combinations of precast beam and slab elements with insitu concrete acting compositely together with options to prestress both the precast and insitu concrete with pre-tensioning for precast and post-tensioning for insitu concrete.  The precast elements can act as a structural permanent formwork to insitu concrete.
